Graduate a Plastic Surgery Institute
After doing well in premed requirements, a future breast reconstruction doctor must attend and graduate from a
plastic surgery institute. It is here where plastic surgery doctors get specialty training beyond premed requirements. At a plastic surgery institute, a future breast reconstruction doctor should expect to:
- Take specialty courses related to premed requirements
- Train with a board certified plastic surgeon
- Intern with a breast reconstruction doctor
Become a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon
The last step in becoming a breast reconstruction doctor becoming a
board certified plastic surgeon. To do this, plastic surgery doctors must graduate from a plastic surgery institute, do years of additional training with a breast reconstruction doctor, and take a number of written and oral exams. After the future surgeon passes the exams, only then is he a board certified plastic surgeon.
